Greetings!
I write speculative fiction (though isn't most fiction inherently speculative when you get right down to it?) Some of my short stories have been published. I'm still looking to get my novels out into the world. My writing is as varied as my own tastes, which run from Jane Austin to Sharknado. I especially like to read dark and creepy things; however, I prefer a hopeful, if not outright happy end. My own writing leans toward science fiction, horror, paranormal, and fantasy, with the occasional humor piece thrown in for good measure.
I also paint and will share pics on the site.
Over the years, I have worked in a variety of fields, most recently medicine (I'm an RN), but find that I still don’t quite know what I want to be when I grow up. Perhaps that’s why I like writing so much. It allows me to live vicariously through my characters, hence the reason I learned to play drums.
My writing journey actually started as a way to entertain myself while awaiting the release of the 4th Harry Potter book. I was working at a large office and needed to look busy. Tired of online shopping, I began writing a time travel fantasy. My daughter was young then, and so writing took a back seat, or maybe the trunk. Years later, a co-worker told me she had written a book. That woke something up in me, and I’ve been writing ever since. Finally, my time travel fantasy became a finished manuscript entitled FOOLS ERRAND about a teen plunged backward in time to a kingdom reminiscent of Camelot.
.
More recently, I've discovered short stories and have shared some of them on this site.
I am also seeking representation for my middle-grade science fiction story, SAVAGE GAME. Teens addicted to an illegal online game are spawning life-like avatars capable of functioning in the real world.
I have several other stories in the works. The one currently in revision involves a ghost and a traveling circus set in 1900.
